After the Incident between the joint Federation-Romulan Task Force in 2379, the Reman Ascendancy has been granted sovereignty and the Star System Galvanis as their home world. The Federation and the Romulan Empire have been negotiating peace treaties. The Reman's have said that if another war against the Dominion Broke out then they would remain neutral. This has been evident in the treaty documents that they have drawn up. They will only get involved in a galactic conflict " like the Dominion War " if they are directly threatened by said conflict. Starfleet and the Romulans can appreciate this as it follows the lines of the Prime Directive.

The Romulan Senate has re-established itself off the back of the Shinzon incident of 2379, and is thriving. There is hope for a lasting peace between the Romulans and the Federation, but some are not holding their breath to find out.

the galaxy is not as peaceful as it seems; just as the Federation is beginning to form unbreakable alliances with new Alpha and Beta Quadrant species, the hidden evils that have laid dormant for so many years are beginning to wreak havoc on the safety and security of the United Federation of Planets.

The Romulans try to recover from the exploits of their 'fallen son' Shinzon. Species 8472 enters our region of space as a civil war breaks out within their society. The Gorn and Tholians make it known they still have a place in our lives. A dangerous new threat, reminiscent of the Maquis, has surfaced: the Liberation Consortium. And as for the Borg...they are never far behind.

Closer to home a rogue 'Admiral' by the name of Adam Harker and his Deathbringer Fleet have become a very immediate concern, their every activity seemingly designed to oppose the aims and principles of the Federation especially in the person of Admiral Carter for whom the Renegade exile holds a very personal enmity.

The entire galaxy could be thrown into turmoil and disarray if these new threats manage to defeat the Federation peace that is where Alpha Fleet comes in....

The Klingon Empire has recently begun to research medicine and science. Many doctors in the Empire have been to Starfleet Academy Medical School in-order to become qualified medics. The Klingon equivalent to a 24th Century Starfleet Sickbay is at-least 2 centuries away, in normal development terms. The Klingons have requested help from the Federation in this area and Starfleet Medical have sent representatives to Qo'nos in-order to educate the Klingon "Doctors".

The Empires interest in such things has been recognised as a positive consequence of the Dominion War. Many Klingons who fought alongside Federation and Romulan troops developed an inferiority complex when they went into battle alongside their allies. They could see the Starfleet Soldiers and Romulan Centurions get injured in battle, receive quality medical care, and return to the battlefield in full health. Klingon Medicine, being what it is, many Klingons were better off without having any medical attention and died before getting back to the fight. Chancellor Martok, a recipient on many occasion of Starfleet Medicine, felt that to show injury in front of fellow Klingons on the battlefield is one thing, standing alongside fully restored Federation and Romulan Officers is quite another. Especially if the day before those same officers would have died in Klingon Medical Care.

Klingon scientific interest is also a recent development, however, the origins of this interest is a mystery, not only to the Empire but to the Federation as well. Even so, Starfleet welcomes the interest that the Klingons have shown in the Sciences, and have not hindered in any way the Klingons scientific interests.
